  1. Vacations are good

One of the hard parts about living downtown this time of year is that every time I leave the apartment (admittedly not often) I pass by tons of stores that are having crazy sales.

I know I can get women's clothing for dirt cheap right now - sale racks are "an additional 50 - 75% off" in most stores. But I'm trying to cut down on consumerism - especially buying new stuff that was mass manufactured to be worn for a season and discarded. So, inspired by a friend who mentioned some thrift store shopping success, I went to the thrift store and got myself a vintage wool pencil skirt that fits like a glove and a lovely silk tank top that will be fantastic if the sun ever returns to Vancouver.

I got a few wardrobe items, fed my desire to shop, got to feel good that I'm helping reuse clothing, and my money went to charity. Yay!

I've been slacking on posting photos of the holiday decor this year. Mostly because I'm lazy. I wish my digital camera had a "send to computer" button on it. That's right - taking out the memory card and sticking it in my computer has become too much work. I've been spoiled by my smartphone which can take photos and post them directly to the internets.

Anyway - we did decorate a bit and here's some proof. I love having a mantle in our apartment, it makes decorating at christmastime so easy and fun! New this year are the stockings which I love. We got a cut tree this year (potted was too expensive), but it's in shadow now so no photos for you, but it is lovely I promise.

In conclusion, here is a photo of the cats because, it's always good to put more cute on the internet and because they are rarely this close to each other - it was a christmas present to me, I think. Thanks cats!

The cuties look so mature in that photo and seem to have an 'I'm so fine' pose happening ;)
