My last name is Brideau (French Canadian heritage). Do you see the
Burrito? That's the only way anyone has ever been able to make fun of my name -
"Lisa Burrito", and it wasn't until grade 9 that someone thought it up, so I think I got off pretty easy.
One day, in my infinite wisdom, I was sharing this tale with my other half -
Peter - and he thought it was hilarious... and I've been Burrito ever since. I
never thought it could be a term of endearment, but there you have it.
Peter and I up and quit
our
engineering jobs several years ago, moved to Vancouver (and I went back to school).
We'd been working in the US for several years and wanted to get back to
Canada.
Despite a strong urge to get back to Nova Scotia where I grew up, we ended up in BC.
Yeah, wrong way, eh? Hence Burrito West. Turns out I love Vancouver and living without snow is actually rather awesome.
Details: I started life as a brat, then became a nerd (huge improvement). I went to university to get a degree in Engineering, where my nerdiness was welcomed. I worked in the US for a bit doing the Engineering thing, then went back to school to become an Urban Planner. Now I work in Sustainability. Who wants to guess what will be next? Life is an exciting adventure; I get to enjoy it with my partner Peter and our herd of cats (2 is a herd, right?).
Random factoid: I was on the varsity fencing team in university. I have medals and everything. No, really.
